About Tengri Silks
Tengri Silks is a heritage silk brand inspired by the artistic legacy of monumental artist Vladimir Tverdokhlebov and the rich cultural symbolism of Central Asia.
The name Tengri comes from the ancient Turkic word for the Eternal Sky - symbol of harmony between nature, spirit and human creativity.
Tengri Silks was created from the belief that art should live not only in museums and public art spaces, but also in everyday life.
The designs of Tengri Silks draw inspiration from the artistic legacy of Vladimir Tverdokhlebov, renowned monumental artist and Honoured Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, whose mosaics, tapestries, sculptures and architectural works explored themes of mythology, cosmic harmony and cultural symbolism of the Great Steppe. His monumental compositions brought together ancient ornament, mythological creatures and geometric patterns that reflect the worldview of Central Asian civilisations.
Tengri Silks reinterprets elements of this artistic language through contemporary silk design.
Traditional symbols - winged animals of Tengrian calendar, solar and cosmic motifs and steppe ornaments - are transformed into refined compositions printed on highest quality silk. In this way, monumental art is translated into a more intimate scale, allowing the spirit of these artworks to enter everyday life.
Each Tengri Silks scarf is conceived not only as a fashion accessory, but as a collectible piece of art. The design may be worn, framed or displayed as a decorative centrepiece, bringing a fragment of artistic heritage into every home.
To preserve this artistic integrity, Tengri Silks scarves are produced in limited collections, and each piece is individually recorded as part of the edition. This ensures that every design remains distinctive and connected to the artistic heritage from which it originates.
